Community Participation

Getting out into Darwin life, at the pace and in the places you choose.

Community participation is not a bus trip to the shops unless the shops are what you wanted. We start with what you actually enjoy, then we work out the transport, the access and the support that makes it happen.

What this looks like in practice

  • Markets, sport, fishing, art groups, cultural events and the library
  • Building up to activities you attend with less support over time
  • Support to join a club or a class and stay in it
  • Help with the access questions before you arrive, not after
  • Wet season alternatives so plans do not collapse in the build up

This is probably right for you if

  • You want more of a social life and less time at home
  • You are working on confidence in new places
  • You want support that fades out as you get established

How this is usually funded

Usually funded under Core Supports, Assistance with Social and Community Participation.
